Under the medical direction of Jason K. Darlington, MD, Atlantic Surgery & Laser Center provides specialized surgical care for patients undergoing a variety of ophthalmic procedures.

Our physicians and clinical team are committed to providing safe, efficient, and compassionate care while making each patient’s surgical experience as comfortable as possible.

Atlantic Surgery & Laser Center is licensed by the State of Florida and accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).

Our facility utilizes advanced ophthalmic equipment and technology and maintains comprehensive standards for patient safety, infection prevention, sterilization, medication management, and quality of care.

From arrival through discharge, our goal is to provide every patient with attentive, individualized care.

Procedures

Procedures performed at Atlantic Surgery & Laser Center include:

• Cataract surgery
• Complex cataract surgery
• Intraocular lens implantation
• Glaucoma procedures
• Corneal procedures and corneal transplantation
• YAG laser capsulotomy
• Other ophthalmic laser procedures
• Pterygium surgery
• Eyelid and select oculoplastic procedures

The specific procedure recommended for each patient is determined by the treating physician based on the patient’s individual medical needs.

Preparing for Surgery

Your surgeon’s office will provide instructions regarding your procedure, medications, and the arrival day.

Atlantic Surgery & Laser Center will contact you the day before your scheduled surgery to provide your arrival time and review any preparation required before your procedure.

During this call, a member of our clinical team will also review your medical history, current medications, allergies, and other important health information. Please have an up-to-date list of your medications available, including the name, dosage, and how often you take each medication.

Please carefully follow all instructions provided by your surgeon and the surgery center regarding medications, eating and drinking, and any other preparation required before surgery.

Patients should arrange for a responsible adult to provide transportation home following surgery when required. Depending upon the procedure and medications administered, patients may not be permitted to drive themselves home.

If you have questions regarding your surgery instructions, medications, arrival time, or if there has been a change in your health before surgery, please contact your surgeon’s office or Atlantic Surgery & Laser Center.

Depending upon your procedure, you may receive separate bills from:

• Anesthesia providers
• Laboratory or pathology providers
• Other healthcare practitioners involved in your care

Anesthesia services are billed separately from Atlantic Surgery & Laser Center’s facility charges.

Healthcare practitioners providing services at Atlantic Surgery & Laser Center may not participate with the same insurance plans or networks as the surgery center.

Patients should contact their insurance carrier and the applicable healthcare practitioner directly regarding insurance participation, coverage, and anticipated financial responsibility.

Atlantic Surgery & Laser Center may utilize independent laboratory or pathology providers when medically necessary, including:

These providers may bill separately for their services and may not participate with the same insurance plans or networks as Atlantic Surgery & Laser Center.

Patients should contact the applicable provider or their health insurance carrier regarding billing and insurance participation.
