Everyone at Atlantic Eye are fabulous. Dr Straud is terrific & so personable. His whole team are friendly, professional yet very attentive. Brittany up front really goes the extra mile to help you find frames that are affordable & literally goes through your insurance details so there are no surprises. She try’s to personally tailor your frames according to your insurance parameters & find the ones best suited for your face & budget. She really knows her job! Everyone was very accommodating but Brittany went out of her way to please me. I very much appreciated her.

The visit went well with the exception of the wait time which seemed a bit more than usual. The technician administering the refractory test was very thorough and Dr. Straut did a good job explaining the changes in my eyesight.

I was visiting family when I had an unexpected urgent issue with my eye. Dr. Mandes treated me so kindly and explained everything to me that was causing my issue. He explained the meds he prescribed and he told me in detail how to take care of my eye. I was truly blessed to have been treated by him!

Dr Straut is excellent! I started to go to him about a year ago when my previous doctor went to a different practice. I am 100% satisfied. He was very detailed in his testing and observation of my eyes and he found a little problem that was so small he could have missed it, but he didn't. Luckily for me, it resolved itself. He's follows me and sets up appointments when needed. A very affable approachable doctor and is open to any concerns.

So far, since you moved to the new location, I don’t have to wait so long to be seen. Big improvement.

The whole process for my cataract surgery was quick and painless. Seemed to only take between 5 and 10 minutes.

Dr Mandese has been my eye doctor for at least 6-10 years. He is the best. He cares about his patients and provides the best care. He takes his time and talks to you.

Dr. Mandes is very thorough by explaining clearly what is happening and answers all of my questions. He doesn’t rush the appointment and I feel comfortable from the moment I enter the office.

The right eye cataract surgery went fine, no issues. When I had a laser surgery on left eye, I wound up next morning with eye inflammation, redness & watery eye which were all signs of Iritis which is treated with prednisone drops and was documented in my history that I suffer with Chronic Iritis. When I called 3 times (left voice mail messages) to ask if I can use my prednisone drops which is the correct method to treat this Iritis, I was told no when someone from the ofc at 3pm finally returned my call that I must see the Dr. & I could only make an apt on Friday in Merritt Island while he was already scheduled to do surgery and NOT to see patients. I would think that would be called a post opt visit which could have taken all of 5 mins and to be seen at the surgical center. I had to call my previous ophthalmologist for an apt who saw me immediately and I was given the prednisone drops. Then I was given an eye exam and the prescription only had vision site for distance and not for reading. I have worn progressive lenses for over 30 years and was never told I would need reading glasses or why the Dr. Did not think it was necessary to provide a script to include reading vision. I was disappointed and just rushed out and then the Dr. stated, it’s rare but sometimes the laser can cause Iritis inflammation…..I’ll stick with my former ophthalmologist any day.

For the most part this visit went well. I have concerns with prep to getting to the Dr. The preenrollment and checkin was terrible, none of the electronic links or tablet worked! Dear Dr. Straut, Is a Doctor others can learn from. His tests for my eye problems was impressive. He printed off copies of his tests and said because I had several things to be addressed. It was important that I go to the emergency room immediately. He took the time to write a letter with specific instructions of what tests the emergency room should run. The ER Doctor read his letter and performed all tests he requested. Dr. Straut, set up for me to meet his colleague who specializes in an area that my test results show what action is needed. The office staff was great! Caring, compassionate and got me in to be seen within 2 hours of my call. My eye was swollen (inside as well as the surrounding area) and it came on rather suddenly. Dr. Darlington came in, examined my eye through equipment and was able to quickly identify the cause, then told me to increase the steroid eyedrops to every 2 hours. Everything about the cataract surgery on both eyes was excellent. Procedure was probably actually about ten minutes per eye. Dr Darlington was a professional, and everything went smoothly. Right after surgery my eyes were 20-20 and the difference in color that I saw was hard to believe. I thought my TV set was going bad, and it was just the cataracts, the color was beautiful right after surgery.

First time I met Dr Straut. Definitely liked him. Very personable and very professional. I highly recommend him. I don’t normally make comments on doctor’s services, but in this case I felt really good about giving him 5 stars. If you need an OD, go see Dr Straut.

Appointment was on time without a long wait in neither the waiting room nor the office. Check out was quick as well. It’s just difficult to drive with dialated eyes when the sun is extremely & fortunate for me, my drive home was just a mile or two away!

Office was slightly busy upon arrival. New patient - first visit. Process to actually see the Dr was somewhat cold . Personnel were very good albiet ‘soldiered’ in their performance. Personable but worked as if patients were “the next one”. As if “Done this a million times …”. No one ever actually asked me why I was there!! Did all necessary steps for cataract surgery and got another appt for surgery approval. A bit undecided about next steps.

Each technician was exact and thorough for the testing that they were conducting. They supplied me with a wheelchair for easier access to move between rooms and had each room clean and set up in advance. All the techs worked smoothly together and communicated quickly. They kept me advised of each step and told me what they were going to do, then did it. Dr. Mandese was a bit delayed to get to me, but was all smiles as he greeted me with eye contact and proceeded to review the test results. He retested something that he noticed was unusual. Dr. Mandese is very professional and highly skilled and took time to answer my questions without rushing off.

Dr. Dowington is one of the best doctors I have ever ever met. I was going with Dr. McManus all those years and I did not know that Dr. Darlington was in the same building. Dr. Stroud has another very good person, but I had a lot of work from Dr McManus and he was he was good. He helped me, but Dr. Darlington is one of the best doctors around this area as far as on the State and everything he can he’s conscientious he tells the way it is The procedure that he does. The guy works 24 hours in the day his crew his nurses everything are all excellent, so please make sure that he might know or get this information or keeping it in his records or so because he’s one of the best doctors I’ve ever ever had. Please help me with my both of my eyes And I would I refer him to a lot of people in case that they might need somebody for an eye doctor, he’s very knowledgeable and glaucoma cataracts regular eyes God bless that man. There were a lot of patients at the office, but the staff seemed to take it all in stride. I was impressed with how well orchestrated everything was. My appointment was at 3pm and I was back in the car at 4:00 on my way home. The staff are awesome kind and friendly with a little humor tossed in. Dr. Darlington was very nice, took the time to answer all my questions. I left very confident of his assessment and my impending surgery.

Sorry I did not realize which Doctor you were. I was not satisfied with my visit and if I could I would like a refund of my $180.00. You were very condescending and the person that did my eye exam was like Gestapo officer . My eye sight is 20/25 and you did nothing but cause me fear. People are scared and you are an alarmist. I have gotten with the right eye Doctor. I am treated as a human with great respect. Diabetes is a common disease and do not mean a death sentence. I am a person of faith and god delivered me out of your hands.

This is my second review request. I have had no change in all that I reported in my first review. I am very disappointed in both eye recovery's. After 7 weeks, my "right eye" is still being treated for high pressure and my sight is still blurred. Unexpected, I had even bigger problems with my "left eye". Fluid has been removed in both eyes. There has been no improvement since I was seen on 5/14/24. The right eye pupil, is still enlarged , the bright light is blinding and I still have the same problem with my left eye as I had on my last visit. As I said, I live alone and before these two surgeries I was very independent, and lived the good life. Now trying to manage my life in this condition is very difficult. I am still not driving, and I have no family here to help me. I have another (1 month), appointment on 6/19. I would like to know the expected outcome. What caused these problems ? When will I be normal again ? Except for the waiting time to be seen and the feeling of being rushed in and out, the staff is very friendly, professional, and kind. Patricia Edwards

Dr. Darlington is an excellent ophthalmologist. I have glaucoma and he is very much on top of the situation to bring it under control.

Every time I see Dr Straut I learn something that helps me netter cope with my eye conditioons. Having worn glasses since the first weel of the first grade or 75 yers ago, what started as being a clumsy ooaf to being almost blind and requiring corrective lens. Given my appreciation for my eye sight, I listen and make mental notes when Dr Straut talks, and I always come away with a better understanding and appreciation for his effort of providing me with more information about my syes and how to better see the wonders of the world.
